Jodie McKinny, MT-BC
Jodie received a B.S. in Music Therapy from SUNY Fredonia. Upon graduation, she became Board-Certified and began her career in northern New Jersey. She has since gained experience in working in a variety of settings, including:
- Long-term pediatric and geriatric care
- Short-term (sub-acute) care
- Assisted Living
- Client homes for "traditional" music therapy, adaptive or typical music lessons
- Public and private schools
- Summer camps
Jodie primarily uses the guitar in piano in her clinical work, but is able to play many others: clarinet, saxophone, banjo (to name a few!). She has had a second-hand accordion in her garage which she MIGHT learn to play someday.
Jodie approaches every clinical situation with enthusiasm, hope, and understanding. She believes that there are so many overlooked positives in our daily lives!
She loves learning about different forms of technology to benefit her practice. Her favorite iPad apps are GarageBand and SongSheet.
Jodie lives in Morris Country with her husband (and co-owner of JBM), preschooler, toddler, 2 cats, and a dog. She is currently working towards her M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling, clinical mental health counseling track. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting and getting crafty with her kids.
Jodie truly believes in the mission of Just Be Musical, and is grateful for the ability to share the beauty of music therapy with others.
